Nice looking bunch of pro mods. Here are a few pics from last year of some Oultaw Pro Mods at the local track.
Look at the butterflies on the blower of the Camaro, and notice the "Chemi" logo on the bottom of the front fenders. If I recall correctly, she won the second to last shootout of the year last year with this hemi-headed big block chevy camaro.
(Sam, it looks like you or Kim are going to have to practice writing "GIRL" with the airbrush so when Kim builds a pro mod it can have a blower like the one in this pic.)
Here is Scotty Palmers 63 Vette Outlaw Pro Mod. I believe the motor in this car was pulled from an old Alcohol Funny Car that Scotty had in his garage after he switched to driving Top Fuel dragsters.
I think Scotty is part owner of the local dragstrip and this pic was taken at the 15th annual Street Machine Nationals Shootout last year. This race occurred the same weekend that the NHRA was running in Memphis, and Palmer had never missed a Street Machine Shootout the first 14 years so he passed on going to Memphis with his Top Fuel dragster, and instead brought the rail to the local track along with the Vette and made a few passes with the Top Fueler each night during the Street Machine Nationals.
I was able to stand about 6 feet away from the Top Fueler when it fired up and it was pretty amazing to stand that close to one of those monsters when they start up and do a burnout. I was also less than 50 feet from the starting line when the dragster left too....it shook the entire ground when he hit the throttle and you could still feel it when he hit the 1/8 mile mark and shut it down.
The first pass he ever made down the track in the Vette with that Alcohol Funny car motor ended up with the car going for an off track ride through the brush on it's roof. Good thing it was still in primer when that happened....at least they didn't have to re-paint it.
Here is Jim Wiens' 69 Camaro that he runs with the Outlaw Pro Mods at the local track. Jim Wiens is on Scotty Palmer's Top Fuel team....I did some reading and found out Wiens does the clutch set up on Palmer's Top Fueler. Wiens was racing Palmer when he put the Vette on it's lid and mowed the grass, and did a little brush clearing along the side of the track.
Notice the two GIANT turbos stacked together on this motor....also notice that this is an SB2 small block chevy. I have heard people say that the motor is a 400, a 406 or a 417 cubic inch motor but I don't know for sure what the cubic inches are since everyone seems to think it is something different. This car has put many bottle fed motors and blown keith black hemis on the trailer during the Outlaw pro mod shootouts. It is really impressive to watch a small block chevy run against the big cube blower motors, and big cube bottle fed motors.
Here are a couple of classic Chevy Outlaw Pro Mods. The 59 Vette is the loudest Outlaw Pro mod that I have heard, and that is with the "small" blower on it shown in this pic from last year. I have heard that he went back to his "big" blower setup this year, but I haven't had the chance to see it with the new setup. The 57 pro mod pictured here was driven by Zach Barkladge and he spent the weekend breaking track records for et and mph in the Outlaw pro mod class....he had the field covered, right up until he turned on the red light in the finals. I am not positive, but I think one, if not both, of these cars were running Nitro Methane...basically the only rules for the Outlaw pro mods at these shootouts is that they have to be door slammers. As long as the doors open and close, pretty much anything else goes.
That V-dub is pretty cool. I have had Pro Mod VW body done for a TJET chassis for a couple of months now but I haven't finished making the motor mold or rear wing mold yet to complete the kit. After seeing the pic of a 1:1 VW pro mod, I guess I need to hurry up and finish the tjet version.
OK I know there not done BUT you if can amgine with the superbird with a wing and a blower come out of the hood and rear deck also with the cuda with another piant job they both might kinda wild hope you like them. Oh ya Gary you know that I`ll be WANTING one!!!!!!!! Mario aka nitro
The dog is starting to think about Pro Mods more and more with a couple in the works, but here is one I have been running the last couple of races. A very sinister 49 Merc ! Shown with out it's carbon fibre wing torn off at the last race
